What should we wear?
Solid colors that coordinate rather than match is always a great starting point. Stick to softer muted tones — bright colors can pull attention away from what matters most. Navy and cream, dusty blue and soft green, or warm taupes and terracottas are all combinations that photograph beautifully together. And if you're ever unsure, just reach out — I love helping families pull their look together!
What if my kids don't cooperate?
As a mom of four boys — and a husband — who all live with a photographer and still don't love having their picture taken, I get it more than you know! Some of my favorite images though come from the in-between moments — the chaos, the giggles, the kids just being kids. Rather than stiff poses, I use prompts and activities that bring out genuine smiles and real interactions. The unscripted moments often tell the best stories!
Who chooses the location?
It's a team effort! I have plenty of tried and true favorites that I love and can suggest, but if you have a location in mind I am always open to hearing it. Sometimes the most meaningful sessions happen in places that are special to your family — and I love finding new beautiful spots to shoot!
Where are you located and do you travel?
I'm based in Portland, MI, and I love finding beautiful new locations for sessions! Travel within 30 miles of Portland is always included. For anything beyond that, a travel fee of $2.00 per mile one way applies for the additional distance.
When will I receive my photos?
I put a lot of care into editing every single image, and I want to make sure your gallery is something you absolutely love. You can expect to receive your finished photos within 3 to 4 weeks of your session.
How will I receive my photos?
Your edited images will be delivered through a personal online gallery sent straight to your email. I'll include everything you need — instructions for downloading your photos and my favorite recommendations for ordering prints.
